Goal of the program

To help prepare players for high school basketball

Director

Coach Mowers is the current JV coach at Trabuco Hills High School.  He has coached at THHS since 2021, and has been a club basketball coach since 2012.  Coach Mowers re-started Stampede in 2022.  Several of Stampede's coaching staff  currently coach at THHS and also graduated from THHS and played for Trabuco's basketball program.

Practices and Tournaments

Stampede usually practices twice a week at Trabuco's gym when available.  We usually play in two tournaments a month.  In addition, when not participating in a tournament, the coaching staff opens the gym for a skills workout on Sundays.

Program Goals

Stampede's main goal is to better prepare young basketball players for high school basketball.  High school basketball is much different than club or NJB/Rec.  Playing in tournaments will help these young players develop the skills necessary to overcome adversity and compete at the high school level.  Additionally, Stampede strives to help players improve their communication both on and off the floor.

Specifics

We focus a lot on team defense.  Not just on-ball defense but weak-side help.  We also focus on offensive discipline and details.  It's very structured and some young players need time to adjust to the different style of play.  The ultimate goal is making a varsity high school roster.
